Dr. Bruce Renich
Bruce has served as Pastor of Impact Ministries at VCB since 2005, leading our church in evangelism and outreach opportunities. He was born in Toronto, Canada but grew up in Kansas as the second oldest of 10 children. He committed his life to following Jesus after a truck accident at age 17.
Bruce met his wife, Retta, at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago; they married in 1968. They have three adult children and four grandchildren.
The Lord called Bruce and Retta to ministry in Papua New Guinea in 1973. They served with South Sea Evangelical Mission establishing youth programs for 60 churches until 1983, at which time Bruce transitioned to the Christian Leaders’ Training College in PNG.
Bruce received an MA in Missions/Intercultural Studies from Wheaton College in 1997. In May 2007 he was awarded an Ed. D. in Adult Education from NIU. Originally sent out as a missionary of VCB, Bruce also served as elder before transitioning to his current role as Pastor of Impact Ministries.
Among his favorite activities are hiking in the mountains, exploring new restaurants, and maintaining his vegetable and flower garden. His “claim to fame” is that he bungee jumped in Cairns, Australia.
His heart for Impact Ministries is to enlarge our vision from personal evangelism to community transformation, providing leadership, strategies, and resources to demonstrate God’s heart to our spheres of influence.
