Barrington Giving Day

From Village in Action: Barrington Giving Day is collecting the following items for their Winter Event to be held on Dec. 11, 2021: WARM COATS, SNOW PANTS, BOOTS, HATS AND GLOVES Because of space limitations only new or gently used clean warm coats, snow pants, boots, hats and gloves will be collected. BOOKS IN SPANISH AND ENGLISH FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS BEDDING, DIAPERS AND PULL-UPS We are also in need of new bedding, unopened diapers and pull-ups. Please note, only donations listed above will be accepted. Let’s not make the volunteers’ jobs more difficult by having to sort out items they cannot use. Collection boxes are located at Barrington Bank & Trust branches, 201 S. Hough St. or 233 W. Northwest Hwy. See the Barrington Giving Day website for other drop-off locations or to donate money. Barrington Giving Day, a 501c3 Non-Profit organization, serves families who either qualify for the Free and Reduced Meal Program through Barrington Community Unit District 220 or have been hit by unexpected hardships at 2 annual Giving Day Events.

Our mission has always been to serve families in need in our community

Children head back to District 220 schools on August 24. Village in Action is once again supporting  the Barrington Giving Days Back-to-school event, to be held August 13-14, 2021 at St. Mathew Lutheran Church.

This is a great opportunity for Village Church of Barrington members to “Serve humbly in the power of the Spirit (1 Peter 4:10)” in one of the following ways:
  • Purchase requested clothing items for older girls online with delivery by July 12.  See separate directions HERE.
  • Volunteer to serve at the event.  HERE.
  • Volunteer to help staff a prayer table to gather prayer requests from participants. To serve 1 hour shifts at the prayer table go HERE.
  • Submit prayer requests for your own children and teachers to Marcia Reynolds.
  • Commit to praying over prayer requests through September. To serve email Marcia Reynolds.

Volunteers who are bi-lingual are especially needed.
It is hoped that every VCB family will prayerfully consider participating in one of the 2 back-to-school events that Village in Action will support this year.
