Women's Bible Study

May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.

2 Peter 1:2 - 4

Digging Deeper Bible Study is committed to studying the word of God and applying it to our life and work. For many of us the book of Ecclesiastes is a strange combination of hopelessness – Vanity, vanity, all is vanity and lovely sound bytes – to everything there is a season…turn, turn, turn! In reality, this Old Testament Wisdom Book reflects the teachings of Jesus in profound and meaningful ways. We’ll examine what it means to be in the world yet not of the world and how to enjoy God’s earthly blessings without being dependent on them for our well-being or identity. Our study of Ecclesiastes is intended, in part, “to help believers reconcile their belief in God with the confounding experiences in life.” In doing so we will see that the hope that Jesus taught centuries later is all over this text.

There is homework as well as time for small group discussion during each class. Included in our semester, we’ll have a service project, monthly Lunch Out! days and opportunities for fellowship and prayer.

This fall the Precept Upon Precept class will explore the book of Leviticus. Most of us are familiar with the story of the Exodus when God did just as He had promised when He made a covenant with Abraham. He brought the descendants of Abraham out of bondage in the land of Egypt. He gave them His statutes and ordinances, established a priesthood, and gave them the pattern for the tabernacle where He would dwell. But how could such a holy God dwell among them? How could an unholy people become holy enough to worship Him properly? This is what we will study in the book of Leviticus. Join us for ten weeks as we deepen our understanding of God and His plan to restore our relationship with Him. In the Spring, we will study the book of Deuteronomy.

This book is foundational to understanding how the resurrection of Jesus and the coming of the Holy Spirit grew the Christian faith from a small Jewish sect to a world-changing movement of God. Acts, Luke’s sequel to his gospel, records how the early evangelists focused on spreading the truth of Christ in a world of devastating persecution. We will study the ins and outs, miracles, shocks, controversies and hope found in the book. Come join a group of vibrant, caring women who love learning God’s transforming Word. The format is soft lecture with lively discussion and fellowship. Questions, debate, and speculation encouraged! No homework is required but reading suggestions will be shared.

This September, we will continue our verse-by-verse study through the book of James, reviewing what it means to be – Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. And then, we will continue to walk through the remainder of James, learning how we can – Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. In our discipleship Bible studies, the teaching time is followed by discussion and prayer in a smaller discipleship group so that we may flesh out the application and walk through accountability.
