By The Hand Bike Across Chicago
Thanks for your interest in the Saturday June 7, 2025 Bike Across Chicago with the By the Hand Club for Kids. It's an all day event that begins at VCB at 7am, where we will carpool down to the Cabrini Green BTH location for registration, then the event starts.at 9am. Dozens of riders are expected, mostly from BTH staff and students and area churches. We (VCB) hope to have the biggest team this year! Lunch is provided at the Austin location. At about 4:15 you will reach the last location, Altgeld Gardens, a light diner will be provided, and then a bus takes you back to Cabrini Green where it started, at around 6:30.
It's a 50 mile bike ride, with extensive police escort that provides both security and speeds up the travel (little to no stoplights). Route takes you through 25 Chicago neighborhoods, including all the BTH locations, downtown, the lakeshore and the museum district. There are several stops to break up the day. You don't need to be an athlete, we had a couple 60+ year olds do it last year, but being in reasonable shape is necessary. It's a lot of fun, you will meet many interesting people, see lots of interesting sites, get some good exercise, and learn more about this Christ centered after school program! And, you will be supporting a great cause!
If you would like to register for the event, please do so with By the Hand--first hyperlink below. Other links for more information are also provided.
If you have any questions, please contact Dave Cartwright at 847-322-3791, or any of the other riders from last year: Greg Nash, Robin Netzel, Jeff Collazo, Ron Porterfield, Bruce Rhodes, Wojciech Zielinski, or Steven Cosmos.
Thanks, Dave
